Leymah Gbowee comes to Kalamazoo
On April 13, 2018, Nobel Peace Prize Laureate and Liberian Feminist Activist Leymah Gbowee will be coming to Kalamazoo, as part of the annual Great Lakes PeaceJam events.
In order to bring Leymah Gbowee to Kalamazoo, we need to raise $20,000 in sponsorships and donations. We do this at a time when women are under attack here in our own country for seeking leadership roles and working for equality. Leymah’s inspiration can be an opportunity for us to build power for women in our local community. Great Lakes PeaceJam created a women's group called "She Persists" that is creating events and opportunities to highlight women's empowerment and leadership.
