Donald Trump has already stated he will immediately reverse even more LGBTQ+ rights than he did the first time around. We cannot let that happen again!
In Trump's America, every gay person, every transgender person, every bisexual, pansexual, nonbinary, asexual, intersex, or any other orientation or identity besides cisgender and straight (every one even suspected of being so) is to be relegated to the fate of Matthew Shepherd or Bobby Griffith in their eyes. They are publicly vowing to legislatively as well as culturally create those very circumstances that allowed for such a heinous crime to occur nationwide. That is the not so far right's dream for queer people. Make no mistake. Don't believe us? Take a look at Project 2025, the Christian Nationalists plan set to be put into place if Trump is elected.
Many continue to lie to themselves as they cast votes for Trump trying to ignore their participation in allowing their friends, their family, their neighbors, and coworkers to be offered up as sacrificial offerings for the will of one man who has no regard for truth, decency, morality, or patriotism all because they are so focused on their dislike of President Biden for petty reasons. It's time we make them stare at our faces when they vote. It's time we make sure that when they go to vote, they see that friend and coworker in their mind as the target of a violent attack on their ability to even exist without a state of fear and being other or less than.
The right has launched a rebirth of the Lavender Scare during which LGBTQ+ people were hunted down by the US government, arrested, interrogated, jailed, forced into insane asylums, ostracized, and fired from government jobs. The public was culturally tasked with participating to rid the US of what Joseph McCarthy referred to as Deviants. Many were murdered in the streets, some in their own home by government agents in sting operations. Many took their own lives rather than to be hunted. In some areas, mobs of people hunted anyone they suspected of being queer. Simply existing was in essence outlawed through intentionally vague laws meant to reinforce the fear of LGBTQ+ people. Uninformed claims of predatory natures abounded. Sound familiar? We've been here before. We cannot go back. Not again.
Donald Trump claims to be under a witch hunt when in reality he is facing accountability. He doesn't have a clue what a witch hunt is. But the LGBTQ+ community does. We ACTUALLY were and are now becoming the target of one yet again. We need your help to stop the resurgence of the Lavender Scare.
Trump recently announced on truth social that he would usher in a "unified reich" if elected. That statement should send the most chilling and glaring warning down anyone's spine that claims to be a true patriot. It's time we start taking back the word patriot and doing the patriotic thing.
Regardless of how you feel about certain candidates, there is one thing that we should all be able to agree on. Our friends, coworkers, and family members all should have the right to exist in America. They should have the right to wake up every single day without fearing for their lives simply because of who they are.
