When Lily Franklin graduated from college, she had $5 in her bank account and $20 in a piggy bank. That $20 paid for her gas to get to her first job and paycheck.
That story was the inspiration for her first campaign ad, "Bank On It," which debuted Wednesday, Oct. 11th.
"I'm running for Delegate because $20 shouldn't make or break anyone," Franklin says in the ad. "I'll reward hard work, lower costs, and create more good jobs. You can bank on that."
Lily is a former teacher and the Democratic Nominee for Virginia's Battleground 41st House District.
This initial ad buy is relatively small, and we need your help to stay on the airwaves! Chip in now to help share her message with voters across Southwest Virginia!
More about Lily:
I grew up in a working-class family and worked several jobs to put myself through college. My roots run deep here: I have five generations of family living in the Roanoke and New River valleys, and I'm committed to uplifting my rural Southwest Virginia neighbors.
After teaching in Appalachian schools through Teach for America, I returned to my hometown to work in the General Assembly. As a Delegate, I'll use my political connections and in-depth knowledge of the legislative process to get things done for the hardworking families.
I'll work to ensure every child gets a world-class education, recent graduates can get good-paying jobs right here in their hometowns, working families have the resources they need to be healthy and successful, and seniors can afford to retire with dignity in their own homes.
The 41st District is a true swing district which will be a must-win seat for Democrats to take back the
House majority. Because there's no incumbent here, Democrats have a huge opportunity to bring progressive representation to Southwest Virginia.
