As the Coles representative on the Prince William County school board, I have been part of making history:
- We hired Dr. LaTanya McDade as our Superintendent and Chief Academic Officer, expanded roles for teacher leaders, and improved our safety posture across all school campuses.
- With stakeholder input, we passed an ambitious Strategic Plan and met or exceeded many of the goals. We are closing in on our targeted over graduation rate!
- We added 4 holidays to the calendar that honor the diversity of our student population: Eid al Fitr, Rosh Hashanah, Yom Kippur, and Diwali. Our food services have expanded menu options for our students.
- I supported teacher and staff raises, equity initiatives, and adding school counselors and social workers to our schools. We now have collective bargaining in place for our employees.
- Our board also worked on the first Green Initiative that will ensure that we are working toward better sustainability as we renovate and build new schools. The first net zero school will open in Occoquan this Fall and the solar panels on our building s are already saving hundreds of thousands of dollars- money we can use in the classroom.
Your contribution will help me plan for my re-election campaign now so that I can remain focused on my commitment to the students and staff of Prince William County Public Schools.
