Down Home NC: Early Intensive Rural Organizing

The 2026 elections will offer Americans their first chance to block harmful MAGA initiatives by taking away their majority support in Congress and building multiracial grassroots momentum to win and hold power at every level of government.

That's why Lean Left is supporting Down Home North Carolina, now and through 2026.

Down Home focuses on multi-racial small town and rural areas, knocking on doors and connecting with NC voters about critical issues that affect their communities. Early engagement with these voters builds an effective network that can push back against extremism.

With our help, Down Home will:

  • double staff sizes in 3-5 NC counties;
  • train local working-class storytellers to fight Republican disinformation;
  • run local, trusted candidates in this Fall's municipal races in targeted areas;
  • hire canvass crews to persuade voters a full year before the U.S. Senate, U.S. House, state court, and state legislative races in 2026.

Through year-round, deep base-building, Down Home NC gives poor and working families a seat at the political table, building multiracial voting power that is essential for change in North Carolina.

Making long-lasting change in our country starts yesterday.
