Some of you may know that my passion about gun violence prevention goes back to 1983 when a friend's beautiful 19 yr. old daughter was murdered in her dorm room at Cornell University. In the last two years I have connected with Moms Demand Action and am now the Morris County Co-Lead. Moms Demand Action is a grassroots group fighting for common-sense gun laws. We fight for things that most Americans agree on such as background checks for all gun sales and preventing domestic abusers from having access to guns. We promote excellent safety programs such as the BeSMART program for kids. We follow and support important legislation such as the domestic violence firearms bill recently signed by Governor Christie. Most important of all we educate, spread the word, and recruit more Moms and Dads at a variety of events, including the recent Welcome Rally for Team 26 riding from Washington DC back to Newtown.
Ninety-three Americans are killed each day by gun violence. Will you honor each of them by making a donation today? Whether $9, $3, or $93, your generous contribution will support groundbreaking research into the causes of gun violence and evidence-based policies to reduce it. You will be helping local Moms in Morris County spread the BeSMART program, helping make our kids safer. You will be contributing to the effectiveness of every action we take to spread the word about commonsense gun laws.
