Donate to Logan Heley for City Council

Friend,

The City of Overland Park, KS is the second-largest city in Kansas and the second-largest city in the Kansas City Metro – nearly 200,000 people. My Ward serves 1/6 of those residents. Providing those nearly 35,000 residents with constituent services and regular updates costs money, however OP councilmembers do not have a budget from the city for community outreach. So I need your help!

Here’s how your donation would help us connect with Ward 1 residents now & get re-elected later:

  • A $25 recurring monthly donation helps us with the below outreaches and more throughout the year and helps us plan our budget!
  • $500 helps mail an update letter to 800 households for one month
  • $250 helps produce fridge magnets with my contact information for constituent reference
  • $100 helps print walk cards for me to take door-to-door to update residents

Will you help with a financial contribution today?

Or make that contribution via recurring monthly donations?

Serving on the Overland Park City Council is rewarding and interesting work. I’m happy to report we’ve already made progress on several major priorities since I took office in January 2018:

Environmental sustainability and climate action

  • We've entered into an agreement with KCP&L that will allow the city to begin sourcing half of our metered electricity needs from renewable sources within the next few years.
  • We're launching a pilot program to explore the possibility of mandating recycling opportunities in multi-family areas. We're also exploring implementing city-wide trash contracts to optimize routes and lower costs for residents.

Transparency and resident input

  • We started live streaming city council and committee meetings in April 2018 and we plan to expand this service this year. Visit www.opkansas.org for the archived recordings.
  • My wardmate and I host monthly ward meetings so we can talk with you about the issues you care about. Join us at our next one by checking the calendar on my Facebook page: www.facebook.com/LoganHeley.
  • While federal and state protections would be preferred and we did improve our internal City policy, I support a city non-discrimination ordinance (NDO) to protect people who are LGBTQ+ in our Overland Park community.

Community development and neighborhood stabilization

  • We're partnering with Johnson County to expand RideKC's Microtransit program to include service to/from the Overland Park Farmers' Market on Saturdays.
  • I've frequently voted against development incentives that create additional and unnecessary sales tax for our residents. I've insisted that we add requirements onto incentive packages to ensure developers engage with residents to ensure projects are best for our community and sustainably built.
  • We still have work to do on housing affordability and providing a wider range of housing options, ensuring that residents of diverse incomes, ages, and abilities are able to thrive.

In my professional life, I am a community engagement manager for Harvesters—The Community Food Network. After work and the Council, I serve on the steering committee of the Metro KC Climate Action Coalition. My Council committee assignments are Public Safety (Police and Fire), Public Works (Roads, Snow Removal, and more), and the Citizens Advisory Council on Parks & Recreation.

It is my honor to serve you and our neighborhoods on the Overland Park City Council. Please contact me at (913) 660-4727 or loganheleyforkansas@gmail.com with any questions or issues.

Warmly,

Logan Heley
