Today is a proud day for the state of Colorado. Today, after nearly a decade of work by Colorado Democrats to gain LGBT equality, love has prevailed! Colorado Attorney General John Suthers has finally directed all 64 county clerks in the state to begin issuing marriage licenses to all loving couples in Colorado. This comes after the U.S. Supreme Court declined to hear all appeals on same-sex marriage bans, leaving the 10th district court’s favorable ruling in place for Colorado families. Colorado has been at forefront fighting for equality for all citizens. Donate today to ensure that this fight does not end. The people of Colorado have strong history of banding together to fight against attacks on our civil liberties. We successfully fought together in the early 90s to have the Supreme Court overturn Amendment 2, which restricted protections for our LGBT friends and neighbors. Then, we fought back again, when nearly 20 years later, the Republican controlled State House of Representatives launched another right-wing assault on the LGBT community and refused to pass the Civil Unions Act against the will of the people of Colorado. We stood together, brought back a Democratic Majority at the Capitol in 2012, passed Civil Unions, and made sure to give more rights to every loving same-sex couple. Help us strengthen our Democratic Majority so that we can keep fighting for all loving couples in Colorado. We’ve come so far in the past few years, and I’m thrilled to witness the events of today. Now, Colorado finally has full marriage equality for all of our loving couples! A strong Democratic Majority was crucial in making these strides towards marriage equality. Please, donate today to make sure Colorado keeps moving forward.
