Monaé Nickerson has proudly served the Prince William County and Dumfries communities for over 18 years as a dedicated Community Steward. She has volunteered with numerous agencies across the County and held leadership positions on various Boards and Commissions. Guided by her personal motto, "Don't just complain, contribute," Monaé actively encourages civic engagement and involvement in the community.
In 2018, Monaé was elected to the Dumfries Town Council and made history as the First Black Female Vice Mayor of Dumfries. Re-elected in 2022, she has worked tirelessly with local and state leaders on infrastructure improvements, community engagement, and economic development. Despite the progress made, Monaé recognizes that there is still a long road ahead to achieve the vision of a community that thrives for everyone.
Monaé also extends her leadership globally, believing that community service knows no boundaries. By continually learning from leaders around the world, she brings innovative ideas and solutions back to Dumfries.
