I'm Madeline Gibson, a Northeast Texas native and U.S. Navy veteran running for Wood County's Precinct 3 Commissioner. That area includes all of Hawkins and Holly Lake Ranch with slivers of Quitman and Mineola.
You may ask "What does a Commissioner even do?" County Commissioners are involved in a wide variety of aspects for the county, mainly maintaining county roads and bridges. However they provide general support for the poor and surface water. They have been instrumental in COVID-19 protection and federal relief funds.
Qualifications for county commissioner are just to be a U.S. citizen, and have lived in TX for 12 months and 6 months in their precinct and over 18 years old. My first job after leaving the Navy was at a small, transportation engineering firm in the DFW area. We did road widenings, hike and bike trails, wetland evaluations, etc. and I worked on environmental documents.
There has never been a female county commissioner in Wood County and there hasn't been a Democrat run for office in over a decade! Wood County needs and deserves better representation!
THANK YOU!
