Wisconsinites should not have to choose between exercising their fundamental right to vote and protecting the health of themselves and their families. Yet, this is exactly what happened in Tuesday's spring election.
Make no mistake about it - The debacle that was Tuesday's election did not have to happen. Republicans in the Legislature made a decision to move forward with in-person voting, putting what they calculated as their own political gain ahead of your health and safety.
With a special election in the 7th Congressional District fast approaching in May, statewide primary elections in August, and the November presidential election not far behind, we can and must prevent a repeat of Tuesday's pandemic primary.
Democrats have a plan to put the health and safety of your families and our communities first. We have introduced a bill to mail every registered voter a ballot for the remaining elections in 2020. We cannot predict what may happen in the upcoming months, but we can be prepared so that you can exercise your right to vote without risking your health and your life.
Help me keep up this important work fighting for you and for our communities.
