Make the Road Nevada (MRNV) builds the power of Latinx and working class communities of color to achieve dignity and justice through organizing, policy innovation, and transformative education.
Our vision for Nevada is centered around improving the quality of life for working-class immigrant communities in every community around the state.
All of the work MRNV does is intersectional. We know that the same people at risk of eviction from our lack of tenant protection laws and skyrocketing rental and home prices are also struggling because of our absurdly biased worker protection laws, physically suffering from our polluted air and rising temperature, and being marginalized by our racist government systems. As our team conducts outreach, they work together to engage the community on specific issues including immigrant justice, health equity, tenant’s rights, youth empowerment, LGBTQ rights, environmental equity, and economic justice, while introducing them to the broader issue areas on which MRNV works. Our experiences show us that by tying civic engagement to the inequities they face, we can drive an increase in participation and expansion of power in historically underrepresented communities. We know that if given the resources we can build on the success we had in engaging our base in 2020 and 2022 to drive those same voters and more to the polls in 2024 and develop them into actively engaged participants in our democracy for years to come.
