Mark was raised on a family farm in Wexford County Michigan. After a career in law and banking, Mark returned to the family farm in 2018 when his parents passed away.
Observing first hand how rural voters have become ignored by the political elites, Mark wrote a book “Reclaim the Rural Vote” to help Democrats communicate with the rural voter. Experiencing first hand the difficulties of re-starting the family farm, Mark became involved with the Michigan Farm Bureau, where he is now on the Wexford County Board and is Chair of the Policy Development Committee. After being encouraged to run for office by both Democrats and Republicans, Mark decided to run for the 36th District Senate seat.
Mark is the only candidate running for Senate who is a farmer.
Mark is focused on strengthening farming and small business in Michigan, as well as ensuring that Michigan’s young people obtain the skills needed to take advantage of the many jobs that are available in Michigan. He also brings expertise to the multiple facets of the housing crisis that Michiganders are experiencing. He wants to ensure that Michigan has all of the energy it needs from all available sources to fuel the economy of the future. The goal is to make Michigan as strong and resilient as possible in order to face the many challenges that are coming our way.
