He was the architect of Barack Obama's 2008 epic grassroots organizing campaign. But his activism and organizing can be traced back to Cesar Chavez and Dolores Huerta's campaign to unionize California farm workers in the late 1960s and 1970s, and even further back to the 1964 Freedom Summer in Mississippi.
Who is he? Marshall Ganz, of course! And he is coming to the Westside Democratic HQ on Sunday, October 6th at 11:30 a.m. to talk about his new book "People, Power, Change: Organizing for Democratic Renewal."
In "People, Power, Change," Ganz distills for activists the principles he has gleaned over the last half-century of creating collective action. This is a not-to-be-missed opportunity to hear Ganz in person!
Ganz is currently the Rita E. Hauser Senior Lecturer in Leadership, Organizing and Civil Society at Harvard University's Kennedy School of Government, where he teaches, researches, and writes on leadership, narrative, strategy and organization in social movements, civic associations, and politics.
This event is free, but please consider making a donation that will go toward keeping the WDHQ running strong through Election day.
