I’ve realized that I’ve been preparing for this role my entire life—often without knowing it. From a young age, I have stood up for what is right, relentlessly advocating for the underdog, simply because justice has always felt like its own reward. Growing up in Texas, I remember when neighbors genuinely cared for each other, and I firmly believe Texans can still show the world what it means to look out for one another. I fondly recall Governor Ann Richards fighting for Texans with unwavering passion, and as a U.S. Congresswoman, I aspire to channel that same zeal. My goal is to ensure every Texan—and indeed, every American—has a fair chance at a fulfilling life.
