It's 2024 and it pains me to see that the State Legislature has continued to ignore the needs of the people and instead pad their own wallets. My opponent, Rep. Bryan Terry continues to vote in lockstep with the radical Republican agenda that is being pushed that works to keep the corporate tax rate low and instead defunds our public schools and hospitals. Fourteen years of the Republican Supermajority has done real damage to this state with over 20 rural hospitals have been closed due to their decision not to expand Medicaid while failing to address the rising costs of housing, education, healthcare, and transportation that has seriously hurt the residents of this state. The TNGOP have kept corporate taxes low and worked to restrict federal and state funding for much needed social programs like SNAP. They have intentionally underfunded state agencies like TDEC, DCS, TDOC, and the entire state's public education system. They continue to promise public school teachers meaningful raises before scraping those plans and acting like there's no money for it(even though they are sitting on over 7 Billion dollars that resides in their secretive "rainy day fund").

Recently, Gov. Lee and the Republican Supermajority have worked on a new voucher bill that will even further subsidize unaccountable private schools with public education dollars. Make no mistake, these schools are founded by unaccountable private eduction entities with far right views who will fail to give students a quality education. Plus, public school districts across the state would lose MILLIONS of dollars of funding to subsidize the expensive tuition of this questionable schools. This plan is not fiscally responsible nor is it "pro-life." This issue has even split republican elected officials. And as Phil Williams has reported, many of them have been threatened to vote for the bill or face the wrath of dark money groups like Americans for Prosperity who will campaign against them in the fall.

To be blunt, the Tennessee General Assembly only care about themselves and their corporate donors while ignoring the needs of Tennesseans who are struggling with low wages, coupled with the rising costs of transportation, healthcare, education, and housing. If you want to fight back against this extremist Republican agenda, please donate to Matt Ferry for State House District 48 in 2024.

Thank you!
