Matt Martini, NYS Young Dem Labor Leader

DCYD’s Matt Martini wins 2016 New York State Young Democrats Labor Award.

The Dutchess County Young Democrats are pleased to announce that our president-emeritus and good friend Matthew Martini has won the New York State Young Democrats’ Labor Leader award for the 2016 year. We can think of no better choice for this honor; Matt’s roots with labor run deep. He was on the picket line before he could walk; In 1989 in a stroller during the CWA strike against NY Telephone.

Matt is a dedicated organizer and great leader, relaunching our county chapter of the young democrats after years of inactivity. Matt led the revitalized Dutchess Young Democrats in canvasses for Congressman Maloney, Senator Terry Gipson and Assemblywoman Didi Barrett in the tough 2014 cycle. This 2014 election push laid the groundwork for the Dutchess Young Democrats’ involvement in the 2015 county elections. We successfully won 5 of our 7 targeted races– and successfully elected two Young Democrats to the county legislature. We could not have done that without Matt’s tireless work.

And with a lot of effort 2016 will be even better! Please consider donating to the Dutchess Young Democrats in Matt’s name to help continue the progress he has initiated.
