Matt McLaughlin was born and raised in Bedford as the youngest of 10 children. He attended Bedford public schools, Trinity High School, Bridgton Academy Prep School, and the United States Naval Academy. Matt earned his naval aviator wings as a jet pilot qualified in aircraft carrier operations and served three deployments on board USS Nimitz. After leaving the Navy Matt spent a total of 33 years as a commercial airline pilot with Northwest Airlines and Delta Airlines.
Matt had the privilege of meeting John McCain during both his 2000 and 2008 presidential runs. He was inspired by John McCain’s words to “get involved, do public service, and be an active member of your community.”
Matt has always said the most rewarding job he has ever had is when he was in the Navy, dedicating his time and talent to a cause bigger than himself. It is for this reason that he feels motivated to run for the New Hampshire Senate seat representing the citizens of District 9.
