As we look ahead to 2023 and beyond, I think it is important to take a few minutes to think and reflect on where we have been these last few years.
I was sworn-in as your Chairman in late 2019 and had been in office only two months when the pandemic hit. As we struggled to make sense of the scary and uncertain times, I was so proud of the way Fairfax County and its workforce provided reliable information, kept people safe, protected our schools and families, got people tested, and rolled out an unprecedented vaccination program. I know their hard work, so often thankless, saved lives, and I will always be grateful.
Today, I am announcing my candidacy for re-election as Chairman of the Fairfax County Board of Supervisors. I believe we have more progress to make, but I have never been more optimistic about the future of Fairfax County.
When we were faced with the worst, Fairfax County was at its best. We came through for each other, and proved what we have known all along: Only when we all work together, and include every unique and valuable perspective, can we reach our potential.
One Fairfax.
I am extremely humbled to be your Chairman, and I look forward to seeing you out on the campaign trail.
