Mark Downey is a Williamsburg-area pediatrician and a passionate advocate for accessible, affordable healthcare. He is running to represent Virginia's 69th House District, which includes most of York County as well as parts of Gloucester County, James City County, and Newport News City. Having previously run for office in House District 96, Mark is entering his third campaign with renewed determination to bring medical expertise to Richmond. As the only physician in the race, and with no current doctors serving in the General Assembly, Mark believes it's critical to have someone in the room when healthcare policy is being debated. His campaign is grounded in ensuring that all Virginians, especially children, have access to high-quality care. He strongly supports vaccines, women's health, and preventative health initiatives.
