Latino Vote-by-Mail & GOTV Program for the State of Florida

Alianza for Progress is an established 501c4 organization in the State of Florida. We also conduct more targeted activities through our Federal - United for Progress PAC and Florida State Committee - United for Progress PAC. Additionally, we have an affiliated 501c3 tax exempt organization in good standing with the IRS and the State of Florida, Alianza Center.

There are more than 1 million Latinos throughout Florida who are registered to vote and have phone numbers and emails on the voter rolls but have not signed up to receive a Vote-By-Mail ballot. Our program seeks to reach these voters through persuasion at the doors, phone banking, texting, social media, and email to encourage them to sign up to Vote-By-Mail.  After they sign up to Vote-By-Mail, we conduct a GOTV campaign using at the doors, face to face persuasion programs, phone banking, texting, and emailing.

Our Experience and Expertise

Since 2015, United for Progress PAC & Alianza for Progress have invested in dozens of races in Central Florida, resulting in the number of Latino and a considerable number of Puerto Rican Democrats elected up and down ballot, to jump from five elected officials, to more than 20 in just three electoral cycles.

Hispanic Communities in Florida are Not a Monolith

While most national entities have treated Latinos in Florida by checking the immigration check box, in Florida more than 50% of Latinos are not impacted directly by the immigration issue. Puerto Ricans are U.S. citizens by birth, and Cubans receive preferential immigration treatment, so the issue is one of solidarity for immigrants at best, not necessarily as an identity. In addition, Florida’s Latinos are very diverse, mostly Caribbean with significant South Americans, Mexicans and Central Americans, and competent messaging must also address the cultural triggers and aspirations of these diverse constituencies.

We want to expand our program to the rest of Florida and need funding to increase our capacity to at least 125 part time canvassers and 25 full-time leads plus many volunteers to accomplish this goal.
