A veteran educator for 22 years at Prairie Heights Community Schools, Mike has lived in and around Angola, coaching track, and playing music with friends. In 2007, he met the love of his life, Becky, acting on the Prairie Heights stage, and they now have two children that continue to amaze them. During that time, Mike has worked above and beyond to ensure all children in his care have been safe, secure, and well taught. Mike has also worked to make sure educators were being treated fairly as a negotiator, representative, and local president for the Indiana State Teachers Association. In 2018, Mike worked with community members of both political parties to pass a school funding referendum, without which schools would have to fire educators and close schools.

Whether it be in the classroom, the principal's office, the School Boardroom, a packed auditorium, the protest line, or the Indiana Statehouse, Mike Travis has been a strong and respected voice for the folks of LaGrange and Steuben County. Now he wants to go one step further and be their voice as State Representative. Too often the wishes of large, often out-of-state, corporations are put before the needs of the people of LaGrange and Steuben counties. Mike wants to listen to the working families and local professionals of our communities, rural, small town, or city, and let their voices finally be heard in Indianapolis.
