Greetings fellow Fallsburg residents,

My name is Michael Bensimon, and I am running to serve as Fallsburg’s next Town Supervisor. With four children in the Fallsburg school district, I am deeply invested in our community and committed to working tirelessly to make Fallsburg a better place for all of us. With your support, I aspire to become a supervisor who governs by consensus and always strives to move our town towards a better and brighter future.

With a master’s degree in government management (MPA), I have extensive experience in the public sector and have dedicated my career to public service with the goal of becoming a professional city manager.

For several years, I was employed as a Staff Auditor with the NYS Inspector General’s office overseeing the Metropolitan Transportation Authority. My role as a governmental auditor and Certified Fraud Examiner included investigating fraud, waste, abuse, and corruption among the 77,000 MTA employees and vendors/contractors; auditing the effectiveness of public programs/services; and managing compliance of large capital projects. As a member of the procurement fraud task force, I have audited or monitored over $2 billion worth of capital and infrastructure projects related to roads, bridges, tunnels, subways, trains, buses, etc.

I then worked as a Staff Auditor for over five years in the Sullivan County Auditor's Office performing similar audits of county agencies and programs, as well as investigating employee/contractor misconduct.

Currently, I serve as a Senior Fiscal-Administrative Officer for the Sullivan County Office of Management and Budget. As a senior officer, I conduct managerial reviews, make policy recommendations, and provide fiscal guidance to county departments.

My extensive experience in governmental and financial management has allowed me to gain a deep understanding of state and county operations and the ways in which they impact our local towns.

I have been a senior member of the Fallsburg Zoning Board of Appeals for over five years, where I have been a vocal advocate for improving the quality of life for our residents, supporting affordable housing, preserving our natural resources, promoting smart, sustainable development, and maintaining the rural character of our town.

Additionally, I have 16 years of experience in the NYPD as an auxiliary police officer and have several planned initiatives to strengthen community policing in Fallsburg. I have also been a local firefighter and EMT for over five years (Mountaindale FD) and have seen firsthand how the opioid epidemic and mental health crisis have affected our residents.

I believe that we share a common vision for what Fallsburg needs, and I am committed to ensuring that all residents have a seat at the table and feel represented. As the chief executive of our town’s local government, I plan to set the tone from the top and develop a professional workforce oriented towards customer service to ensure that our residents always receive efficient and effective services.

I believe that my training, skillset, and experience make me uniquely qualified for this role, and I am committed to working to build a better Fallsburg for all.
