I'm gearing up for the 2020 election and will be gradually adding key U.S. House and Senate races to my list.

But I'm also paying attention to 2019 state legislative races in Virginia, where Republicans hold a very narrow edge in both houses. Just a small shift would give Democrats a trifecta in a state that has been trending blue recently (the Governor is already a Democrat). This would give Democrats control of redistricting following the 2020 Census.

My wife and I had the pleasure of meeting (via Skype) Karen Mallard, a schoolteacher who is running for the Virginia House of Delegates, attempting to flip a seat that the Republican incumbent won by less than 800 votes two years ago.

We LOVE her!

For what I think is the first time, I've included an organization on my list: Fair Fight, which Stacey Abrams founded to fight voter suppression and ensure fair elections across the country.

It is an extremely important issue, one that could have a tremendous impact on many of the contests we are involved in.

Voter suppression in Florida and Georgia certainly cost us the governorships in both states plus Bill Nelson's senate seat in Florida.
