1 Michigan for the Global Majority

MI COVID-19 Undocumented Relief Fund

Goal thermometer

No one is "Illegal on Stolen Land," while the majority of our government ignores the backbone of this country take action to help our brothers and sisters! SI SE PUEDE! (YES WE CAN!)

One Michigan was founded by and is led by undocumented people. For the past 10 years we have led initiatives to get Driver Licenses for DACA Holders, Detroit IDs for all, and DACA itself. We have stopped numerous deportations, and work everyday as a trusted source for undocumented people to get help.

We do not have traditional work hours. None of us are paid staff. We do not have any political ties, or ties to foundations that limit us from doing anything and everything we can for our community members. Including but not limited to many of us being arrested for this cause because it directly affects us.

Before jumping to collecting money for our community members we did hard work by talking to our people and asking them what they need. We plan to have volunteers assist people to get bills lowered or removed. The volunteers will connect folks with existing programs that provide help so that we will not be their only source of relief. Finally, we will pay for bills directly and or give cash to families when we can.

American workers were given $1,200 plus $500 per child. Band aid funds are not acceptable that is why we have such a large goal. We understand this will be an individual effort but it is possible. Hopefully we can surpass our goal and help even more people.

Can we handle a distribution process? Yes, every year we provide hundreds of kids gifts for the holidays for the past five years. We have a similar form asking questions to get each child what they need and identify families that need extra help. Our process is equitable and thorough.

Enough is enough, please do not give to organizations not led by undocumented people directly. Unfortunately, our people are used to collect funds to line salaries and we are left with scraps. As a volunteer led organization for 10 years we have proven that is not what will happen with your donation.

Feel safe and happy knowing all of your money will help undocumented people. Currently we are running several campaigns helping undocumented people per their requests and we will continue expanding those efforts as long as we have your support!
