Beginning this November, the federal government shutdown has brought devastating consequences for thousands of East Boston families who rely on SNAP (Supplemental Nutrition Assistance Program) benefits. As federal funds freeze, so do grocery budgets—and for many, that means empty pantries heading into the coldest months of the year.
Maverick Landing Community Services (MLCS) is stepping up to fill the gap. We’re expanding our food distribution efforts—rescuing and redirecting food through our networks, stocking a new low-cost community store, and making sure no family is left behind. But we can’t do it alone.
