Standing together to support families in need of food

Goal: Raise $30,000 to fight hunger in East Boston


Beginning this November, the federal government shutdown has brought devastating consequences for thousands of East Boston families who rely on SNAP (Supplemental Nutrition Assistance Program) benefits. As federal funds freeze, so do grocery budgets—and for many, that means empty pantries heading into the coldest months of the year.


Maverick Landing Community Services (MLCS) is stepping up to fill the gap. We’re expanding our food distribution efforts—rescuing and redirecting food through our networks, stocking a new low-cost community store, and making sure no family is left behind. But we can’t do it alone.


We need to raise $30,000 to cover:


  • Emergency food purchases for families losing SNAP support


  • Fuel and staffing for our refrigerated cargo van to rescue and deliver food


  • Operational costs for our new low-cost community food store


  • Direct assistance for families in crisis



Every dollar counts:


  • $25 feeds a family for a week


  • $100 keeps our van on the road rescuing fresh produce and proteins


  • $500 supports community food access for an entire block
