It’s been a year since the election. Millions of people have taken to the streets and protested. Yet the Trump administration continues its relentless attack on our rights and protections. We need to sustain and grow our resistance movements to seize and meet this moment. We need to keep calling our people into courageous action, even in discouraging times. And we can’t do it alone.
Momentum is building a generation of leaders to activate the public through massive non-cooperation and win a vision of justice and democracy for the long-haul. The movements that have already launched from the Momentum model have been at the forefront of leading efforts to resist Trump.
Cosecha, a movement for permanent protection for all immigrants, has activated thousands on the ground through massive disruption against Trump’s immigration policies - including sanctuary campus walkouts, airport protests, the Day Without Immigrants, and actions against the DACA repeal.
Sunrise, a youth-led climate movement, launched this spring, is already active in over 13 states, and made the front page of the New York Times for its songful disruption at the Trump administration’s UN climate conference event that tried to peddle fossil fuels as a solution to climate change.
IfNotNow, a movement to end American Jewish support of the occupation of Palestine, has engaged 10,000 people on the ground, trained 1,5000 leaders across 10 cities, and led efforts in the Jewish community to resist Trump and #FireBannon. Already the narrative about the occupation is shifting in the American Jewish community.
