Join Alyssa Milano and MoveOn to support the critical work of United We Dream and their effort to assist DACA recipients in paying to renew their DACA status.
Since Donald Trump callously ended the DACA program in 2017, the lives and futures of nearly 800,000 young immigrants have been thrown into uncertainty.
So far, three different federal courts have ruled that the current protections for DACA recipients must be honored but have closed the program to new applicants. The Supreme Court, which could have the final say, just announced that it will not take up a case on DACA this summer. That means existing DACA recipients, who arrived in the U.S. as children and have made their lives here, can continue to renew their status so that they can live, work, and go to school without fear of deportation.
However, in order to maintain their status, DACA recipients must reapply every two years, a grueling and expensive process. The application fee alone is $495, and that does not take into account additional legal fees or other costs associated with renewal.
