Since cannabis is still federally prohibited, cannabis businesses are banned from working with financial institutions. Operating on a 100% cash-only basis isn’t just inconvenient for customers -- it’s dangerous, and it makes small businesses and their employees an easy target for crime.
SAFE Banking would end this unjust system by FINALLY permitting cannabis businesses to work with banks. And now, we have a real chance to get this reform passed THIS YEAR. That’s because SAFE Banking provisions have been added to a must-pass spending bill, so all we have to do is make sure this language remains in the final version.
