Support Myla Long for Castro Valley Schools

Myla Long is running for the Castro Valley School Board to represent Trustee Area 2 because every student in Castro Valley deserves a high-quality public education no matter their neighborhood, background, or circumstances.

This campaign is about leadership that listens, collaborates, and keeps students at the center of every decision.

Myla is committed to student-outcome-focused governance. That means asking clear questions: Will this decision help students read on grade level? Will it strengthen math achievement? Will it support critical thinking, creativity, safety, belonging, and readiness for life after graduation? Will it use public resources responsibly and transparently?

As a working CVUSD mom, a proud product of Castro Valley public schools, and a longtime community volunteer, Myla brings both lived experience and practical problem-solving to this campaign. She served for six years with Castro Valley Elementary’s parent-teacher group, PATA, including three years as president. She has also served for five years on the School Site Councils for Castro Valley Elementary and Creekside Middle School, helping shape school goals and priorities through collaboration with families, students, educators, staff, and administrators.

Myla also serves as Vice President of Chabot Swim Club, where she helps lead the lifeguard program and works with young first responders, often in their first employment experience. Through this work, she has seen how confidence, responsibility, mentorship, and opportunity can shape young people’s lives.

Professionally, Myla brings more than 25 years of experience in supply chain, logistics, finance, accounting, and integrated business planning. She understands budgeting, fiscal accountability, long-term planning, and the importance of making decisions that are both compassionate and responsible.

Myla’s priorities are clear:

  • Prepare students for the future through strong academics, critical thinking, and real-world readiness.

  • Revitalize trust through open communication, authentic family engagement, and collaborative leadership.

  • Support holistic safety so every student and staff member feels physically safe, emotionally supported, and respected.

  • Protect fiscal responsibility by ensuring resources are aligned with student outcomes and opportunity for all.

Myla is running to protect what is working in Castro Valley schools, improve what is not, and help bring the community together around the success of every student.

Help elect Myla Long to represent Trustee Area 2 on the Castro Valley School Board this November.
