About the Scholarship
Since its founding in 1909, the NAACP has made education central to its mission, recognizing it as a vital path to political, social, educational, and economic advancement. Our scholarship program helps aspiring students pursue their goals while encouraging them to give back and inspire others through their success.
The Montclair NAACP William L. Scott, Sr. Scholarship is named in honor of Mr. William L. Scott, Sr., a lifelong resident of the Township of Montclair; a dedicated member of the Montclair NAACP; a member of the Township of Montclair Housing Commission; and a tireless advocate for civil rights and social justice. Throughout his adult life, Mr. Scott has been deeply engaged in civic leadership, consistently advocating for the basic civil rights of all people, with a particular focus on people of color and other marginalized communities.
