Nadeen Bir is a DPS parent, a longtime Durham resident, and a respected community organizer and nonprofit leader with deep experience in finance, operations, and worker advocacy. She and her family live the realities of Durham Public Schools every day—her two children attend DPS, and her husband is a DPS music teacher and union member.
As a queer Palestinian immigrant and first-generation college graduate, Nadeen knows firsthand how public education can change lives—and how systems that lack transparency, equity, and support can leave families behind. One of her children is both AIG-identified and EC-identified, giving her direct experience navigating special education, advanced academics, and the gaps that exist between policy and practice.
Nadeen is running to bring steady, values-centered leadership to the School Board: fighting for student safety and wellbeing, dignity and living wages for school workers, and real budget transparency so broken promises never happen again. With nearly 20 years of experience managing complex budgets and organizations, she brings skills to the Board that Durham Public Schools urgently needs.
This is a grassroots campaign powered by parents, school workers, and community members who believe Durham Public Schools should work for every child. Your contribution helps Nadeen reach voters across District 2 and build a school system rooted in care, accountability, and opportunity.
Chip in today to help elect Nadeen Bir for Durham School Board.
