I am officially a candidate for the Georgia State Senate, District 44, representing parts of Dekalb and Clayton Counties. I joined the race with experience in the Georgia House of Representatives and Georgia State Senate from 1991 to 2005. I became the First Black Woman elected to the Georgia State Senate In 1993, and almost twenty years later, I had no idea I would want to return to an elective position.
Still, the attack on Democracy and the blatant intolerance and hate towards others would no longer let me sit by and do nothing. I come with an agenda to:
- Healthcare Expansion
- Reproductive Rights
- Economic Security & Affordability
- Public Education
- Voting & Civil Rights
