John Laesch for Mayor of Aurora supports Palestine!

Dear Friends,

I am asking you to join me in supporting my friend John Laesch in his campaign for Mayor of Aurora.

I’ve known John for years. He is a dedicated public servant with the experience and integrity needed to govern the second-largest city in Illinois. He currently serves as an Alderman at-Large on the Aurora City Council. John won that seat in a three-person citywide race, defeating the incumbent by 17% despite being outspent.

John is one of those rare elected officials who are committed to standing on the side of justice, no matter how difficult. He has never hesitated to call what’s happening in Gaza a genocide and has a long record of advocating for Palestinian liberation.

In fact, John was the champion of Aurora’s ceasefire resolution, and worked with Muslim constituents to draft it while the current mayor refused to even meet with those same constituents.

Recognizing how demoralized Muslim-Americans feel in the present moment, John is the only candidate for mayor who has visited Aurora-area mosques during this campaign. His Muslim supporters have knocked on the doors of hundreds of Muslim households in Aurora to mobilize our community for this election. 

And their outreach paid off. John easily finished as one of the top 2 candidates who ran in the February 25th primary. Now he will face off against the current mayor in the April 1st general election.
