2026 is shaping up to be a historic year for Native representation – and these three leaders are at the center of it.
- Peggy Flanagan (White Earth Ojibwe) for Minnesota U.S. Senate — Minnesota's Lt. Governor is running to become the first Native American woman in the U.S. Senate. She's led on child care, paid leave, reproductive justice, and indigenous rights — and she's been endorsed by Elizabeth Warren and Deb Haaland.
- Deb Haaland (Laguna Pueblo) for New Mexico Governor) — The first Native Cabinet Secretary is running to become the first Native American woman elected governor in U.S. history. A 35th-generation New Mexican, Deb has spent her career fighting for working families, public lands, and sovereignty.
- Mary Peltola (Yup'ik) for Alaska U.S. Senate — The first Alaska Native elected to Congress is back, challenging Sen. Dan Sullivan. Mary's "Fish, Family, Freedom" message has won statewide twice — and she's ready to do it again.
