Donald Trump signed an executive order attempting to rename Lake Ontario “Lake America,” and Google and Apple both bent the knee.
Americans opening their maps now see “Lake America,” even though Lake Ontario has carried its historic Indigenous name for hundreds of years and remains Lake Ontario throughout Canada and around the world.
And we know these companies had a choice. MapQuest publicly refused to change the name. That is what leadership looks like. Google and Apple can still reverse course, but they'll only do it if we demand it.
Contribute to the National Campaign for Justice and fund the fight demanding Google and Apple stand up to Trump’s attempts to rewrite the map.
