I'm NOT running for State House !!! That sounds awful. Luckily this is just an April Fools joke and I don't have to, because we have some amazing folks who have stepped up to run here in Michigan. Please join me in splitting a donation between our next Governor, Jocelyn Benson, and these 5 House and Senate candidates, all of whom I'm lucky to call friends. They are running in some of the most crucial races in our state - if all 6 of them win their races in November, Dems are essentialy assured to have a trifecta in Lansing for only the 2nd term in over 30 years. Meaning we can continue the progress made for our state under Governor Whitmer
- Jocelyn Benson (MI-Gov) - Our beloved Secretary of State needs no introduction, but she's probably the smartest person I've ever met and I know she'll be an incredible Governor. She needs to have the resources to win a race being muddied by an Independent candidate taking millions from MAGA donors.
- Kevin Hertel (Senate District 12) - Kevin has been representing Macomb for nearly a decade and has been one of the most effective legislators during his time in Lansing. He won the closest Senate Race in the State 4 years ago. He's in another tight race this year and if we hold onto the seat, Dems will likely hold control of the State Senate!
- Katrina Manetta (House District 58) - Katrina is a community organizer who's grown Macomb Defenders Rising into a powerhouse organization over the last year. She will fight for our values in Lansing and can flip this seat that Dems held until 2024.
- Alex Hawkins (House District 55) - Alex is a veteran, Oakland County Sheriff's Deputy, and community Leader. I've ran for this seat before and know Alex is the one who can flip this seat in my home of Rochester. (I also should probably apologize to him for scaring him with this announcement !!)
- Sarah Pounds (House District 54) - Sarah's a nonprofit community leader and paralegal who's also a mom raising her family in Lake Orion. She'll fight to bring good jobs and economic opportunity to Oakland County in Lansing.
- Jaime Churches (House District 27) - Jaime is a teacher who won this district before and I know she can win it again to be a true fighter for Downriver and secure us a majority in Lansing.
