Support Shané Darby

Shané Darby, a proud mother of three beautiful girls, has chosen to raise her family in the neighborhood she grew up in. This deep-rooted connection to her community, coupled with her inspiring work as the founder of Black Mothers in Power, a statewide non-profit organization, demonstrates her unwavering commitment to empowering Black Mothers and addressing racial inequity in Wilmington, Delaware.

As an active member of the Army National Guard since 2012, Shané serves as a paralegal. She is also an adjunct teacher and Delta Sigma Theta Sorority, Inc. member. These affiliations have provided Shané with the necessary network and professional skill set to affect legislative change in the Wilmington community through grassroots initiatives. For example, Shané witnessed the inequality Wilmington youth face daily. As a former Child Behavioral Therapist, she worked closely with children who have experienced trauma or who have behavioral issues. Her experience provided insight into the lack of community resources and youth development, as well as supplanting her passion for reinvigorating youth projects, focused on supporting local community centers and extra-curricular activities that teach kids the necessary skills to succeed in all walks of life.

As Wilmington City Councilor, Shané Darby is the bridge connecting all neighborhoods to District 2. She aims to foster a sense of unity and shared purpose among everyone in Wilmington. If re-elected for a second term, Shané will continue to advocate so that every resident has access to crucial services, ensuring access to affordable housing, effective public safety strategies, and an equitable balanced budget.
