Next Step

It's time to take the Next Step and turn the page on racism and social justice in our communities.

The murder of George Floyd was an inflection point in the 400 hundred-year struggle to bend the arc of history toward justice. The brutal assassination occurred on video, viewed by millions trapped at home during a pandemic. The horror would not be drowned out by the hustle of life. For 7 minutes and 46 seconds, America was taught the brutal reality of systemic racism.

White America, by and large, moved together to condemn the tide of state-sponsored violence against people of color. In their anger, they searched for tangible ways to organize and mobilize for change in their communities.

During the summer of 2020, a group of “doers” believed we could help allies and community organizations do better. Our answer is The Next Step Coalition.

We are focused on building modern community networks equipped to advocate and implement social justice, and community empowerment initiatives across the country. The Next Step Coalition attacks racism by supporting local organizations already on the ground. We listen, troubleshoot, and empower. When there is a gap, we move to fill it in partnership with local leaders.

“The Coalition” is mobilizing for change by advocating for common sense antiracism and progressive policies and resolutions in key community institutions including city councils, school boards, and law enforcement. We are training leaders to pinpoint and mobilize to address racially driven disparities where the communities where they live.

We have the passion. We have the innovators and creators. What we need more than anything else is your support. We rely on small-dollar donations to surge resources into communities that need “a push” to get their effort over the finish line.

We need your help. We need you to get in the fight for America we deserve. Help us take the Next Step.
