Dear friends and family,
Update: Thank you so much for helping me surpass my second goal of $1,300! I am blown away by the support!
I am happy to support the Catalyst Project by fundraising for their upcoming convening at the Highlander Center, a long-standing institution of civil rights organizing. As many of you know, I recently participated a 6-month anti-racist leadership program with Catalyst, and this opportunity was invaluable in deepening my commitment to dismantling systems of oppression and building racial and economic justice. Catalyst's main work-- supporting organizations in poor and working class white communities to strengthen their racial justice practices-- has always been important, but in our current political moment, the importance of investing in organizing for justice in poor and working class white communities cannot be overstated.
From April 20-23, 40 leaders organizing with poor and working class white communities across the U.S. will gather at the historic Highlander Center to share skills, strategy, and analysis about building racial justice. These organizers from across region, culture, and issue will come together to:
- Discuss what’s needed during this moment of accelerated white supremacy
- Share organizing skills and lessons across geographies and sectors
- Share and build strategies about how the white working class can shift to see themselves as part of a broader, multi-racial working class
- Build relationships between more poor and working class white organizers committed to anti-racist struggle
Please join me in donating to make this critical convening happen. I am aiming to raise $850 for the convening, out of a goal of 30k. Catalyst has secured 15k in matching funds, so every dollar you donate will be matched!
Thank you for helping me support this important work! Let me know if you have any questions, and much love!
Nicole

Update: If and when the convening is fully funded, any additional money raised over the campaign goal of $40,000 (increased to reflect the full cost of the convening) is being donated to “Beyond the Moment: Uniting Movements from April 4th to May Day (BTM)”, a national collaboration of more than 50 organizations including Movement For Black Lives, It Takes Roots, Mijente, Fight For 15, the People’s Climate Movement and many more to do mass political education and take to the streets together for freedom, dignity and respect.
