THIS CONTEST IS NOW OVER. Contribute to any candidate you'd like to but the Green Dat plaque is no longer available
This year— not 2024, this year— Virginia will elect its state legislature. Right now each chamber is almost evenly split, with Democrats in control of the state Senate 22-18 and Republicans in control of the House of Delegates 52-48.
Blue America is working to help progressive candidates running for each chamber to succeed in winnable races. None of them are wealthy and none of them take corporate money.
This week, we’re giving away a gorgeous, custom, RIAA-certified, double platinum award for Nimrod, Green Day’s 5th album (released in 1997 and double platinum the following year).
This award was given to Blue America co-founder Howie Klein, who was president of Reprise Records, Green Day’s record label. He donated the award to Blue America to use to raise funds for the Virginia candidates. And one lucky contestant will win it for their very own!
Here’s how to win: anyone will be eligible for a random drawing, no matter if they contribute $1 to one candidate or $1,000 to each candidate, as long as the contribution is on this page— although people who would prefer to send a check, can send it to:
Blue America PAC
PO Box 27201
Los Angeles, CA 90027
The contest will run from Sunday, May 7 until midnight on Saturday night May 13 at midnight (technically May 14).
And if you really want the Green Day record but can't afford to make a contribution, send us a postcard to that PO Box and let us know and you'll be in the drawing too!
BONUS: The candidate who brings in the most contributions (not the most dollars, the most people-- one entry per email address), will get a $1,000 check from Blue America.
