A wave of dangerous, “tough on crime” policies and initiatives are threatening the safety of our Black, Brown, and Indigenous communities. Most alarming is Proposition 36, which if passed by voters this November will cost taxpayers $4.5 billion a year, every year and will incarcerate an additional 1.5 million — without making our neighborhoods safer. Prop 36 will undoubtedly set back historic improvements towards democracy.
