"I knew there was no justification for treating smokers as criminals... 50 years and counting, [we] continue to fight for a world in which marijuana smokers are treated fairly in all aspects of their lives.” - Keith Stroup, founder of the National Organization for the Reform of Marijuana Laws (NORML)
Over half a century ago, a young attorney formed an organization that would elevate the country's entire cannabis legalization movement to new heights. Through Keith Stroup's vision, NORML has pioneered efforts to lobby for consumers' freedoms, including creating an unprecedented national committee of attorneys, fostering and supporting pivotal campaigns and federal lawsuits, and forming a structure for every modern cannabis group to follow. Today, 38 states and Washington DC enjoy some form of access to legal cannabis; nationwide, over two-thirds of Americans support making the plant federally legal. This would not have been possible without the dedication of one man.
Please join NORML in celebrating our founder Keith Stroup's 80th birthday! On January 10, 2024, we invite NORML members and cannabis connoisseurs to New York City for a toast to the man who started it all. At a Harlem hotspot, experience treats from an award-winning chef and an unforgettable night. Meet the legends who have built the movement from the beginning and innovators propelling it to its next evolution. Connect with members of the cannabis community and industry, educators bringing advocacy and culture together under one roof. In this collaborative spirit, help us pay tribute to Keith for his time-honored work.
In lieu of birthday gifts, Keith has asked that guests make a tax-deductible donation to The NORML Foundation.
