I have served on the Rutland City Board of Aldemen for the last eleven years and the longer I serve the clearer it becomes that many of the challenges we face locally can only be solved at the state level.
Like many communities in Vermont, Rutland faces the dual challenge of rising taxes and a declining population. It is essential that state government remove barriers discouraging people from starting new businesses or expanding existing ones. It is vital that homeownership in our communities becomes something to celebrate again without an ever-increasing tax burden.
What is good for Rutland would be good for many other communities throughout this state. It would be an honor to go to Montpelier and fight for Rutland and by doing so to make Vermont a better place to live for thousands of people throughout our state.
