Supporting women and legal aid in honor of R. B. G.
Following my usual philosophy, this fund distributes donations across a number of organizations. I believe it's best to fund a range of related organizations because it is hard to know which are the most impactful (though I eliminated groups with a poor rating on Charity Navigator) or need the funding the most.
National Women's Law Center - Highly-rated legal organization advocating for women in public and in the courts. This is the kind of thing RBG built her early career on.
ACLU - Speaking of RBG's early career, a lot of it was here. Clearly an organization she cared about.
TimesUp Legal Defense Fund - Provides legal services to victims of sexual harassment and discrimination. Run by the National Women's Law Center.
National Lawyers Guild - Provides legal services to progressive social movements. (Also stepped in to help a friend's son who threw a water bottle at a protest.)
Women's Refugee Commission. Research and fact-finding to support women, children, and youth displaced by conflict and crisis around the world, including refugees in the US.
Brennan Center for Justice at NYU - Progressive legal policy think tank. Tagline: "Defend Democracy. Reform Justice. Protect the Constitution." Not woman-focused, but an organization dedicated to legal reform seemed appropriate.
Planned Parenthood - They are going to need it.
NARAL Pro-Choice America Foundation - Again, no explanation needed.
