Who are we?

The Newark Water Coalition is a community of individuals and groups who wanted to put out good information regarding the lead water crisis in the city of Newark. The first meeting of the Newark Water Coalition was on Dec 18th, 2018. Since then, the NWC has given out over 300,000 gallons of water and over 150,000 lbs of food. NWC has helped communities both locally and internationally. NWC operates 3 community refrigerators and 1 dry goods pantry along with 4 water boxes in the city of Newark.

Why?

The Newark Water Coalition acknowledges that Water, Housing, and Food is a human right. Our intention is to cultivate a self-determined local, national, and international community of people who recognize the connection between systemic environmental racism and capitalism. NWC fights to liberate natural resources whether it be food, land, air or water as sources of life for all.

The Water Box is a mobile water filtration system that uses proven methods to reduce heavy metals like lead and eliminate harmful bacteria from the water producing ten gallons a minute. We designed it to be rugged, portable, easy to use and serviced. It was designed using proven, certified parts to conduct a four stage filtration process designed to filter out several types of heavy metals, sediments and bacteria.
