New York State Association of Black & Puerto Rican Legislators

The NYSABPRL remains dedicated to ensuring a higher education is available to all New Yorkers who desire to earn a degree. The NYSABPRL endeavors to further its purpose of promoting the common good, and general welfare by facilitating access to college education for economically disadvantaged New Yorkers.


Each year the NYSABPRL College Scholarship Program provides financial assistance to scores of students from economically disadvantaged and low/moderate income families. Funds are distributed through scholarships awarded to students who meet the eligibility criteria established by the NYSABPRL.


The NYSABPRL Scholarship Selection Panel awards scholarships according to a combination of both merit and need. Talented applicants who lead the merit pool will also be considered in the context of financial need and of which students might need the scholarship funds more than others.
