The time to defend our teachers is now. In the past year, educators have been threatened by white supremacist mobs, like the Proud Boys, for teaching Black history. They have been locked out of their classrooms, transferred to remote locations with no explanation, and fired for building culturally responsive curriculums. They have been openly threatened by public officials who admit that they aim to make examples of them. And still, these teachers have refused to back down or to teach anything less than the full course of history in their classrooms.
They shouldn’t have to do it alone. That’s why Color Of Change is launching Black History is U.S. History: an Organize For training series, where educators, students, and parents can learn how to launch campaigns that can build power for their causes by using digital organizing tools & social media strategies.
