Organizing Corps 2020 fundraises through the DNC to recruit and train 1,000 local organizers from diverse backgrounds to work on the 2020 presidential campaign in key battleground states. This past summer they trained 29 such fellows in Wisconsin, who knocked on 2 percent of all Milwaukee’s doors. The work of these trainees was invaluable, not only to improve data, but to identify new volunteers and activists.
Black Leaders Organizing for Communities (BLOC) was formed in response to the decline of voter turnout in Milwaukee’s African American communities in 2016. Run by Angela Lang, a Milwaukee native who worked as the political director of For Our Future Wisconsin, BLOC is working to rebuild political trust and engage people in all levels of the political process.
Democratic Party of Wisconsin Electing Ben Wikler, formerly a director at MoveOn, as the chair of the Wisconsin Democratic Party has tremendously boosted the WisDems grassroots organizing focus and abilities. As a permanent organization, WisDems will play a central role in running the Democratic presidential campaign after the primary.
