SUPPORT THE ORAL HISTORY WORKING GROUP
UNITY THROUGH HISTORICAL TRUTH
“We hope to create a community of unity through historical truth, honesty in truth, cultural acceptance, respect of heritage, and the fostering of safe spaces to share.”
OUR MISSION
The Oral History Working Group is discovering new and exciting things about the African American community in Utah. They first arrived in the territory in 1822. Twenty-five years before the settlement of the Salt Lake Valley.
Your donation is essential to advancing the group's efforts to preserve the recollections of Utahns that date back as much as 90 years. In the tradition of the Griot, these Utah stories recall the past in styles that are unique to the individuals and families who keep them. They are not story-writers. They are storekeepers. They are storytellers.
Thank you for working with us to create a space where we can remember and share all of the voices of Utah.
Donate today and give the gift of truth!
Our mission of truth through history is critical to our community’s, state’s, and nation’s reconciliation and unity.
Your donation goes to support our research, preservation, and dissemination of lost and forgotten stories of America in the community. These are stories that restore hope to communities who feel marginalized and forgotten, and they foster appreciation, love, and brotherhood in communities that don’t know or understand the marginalized communities.
